The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of characters residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
